Four care levels, never a diagnosis
Every check ends in one clear next step, so you are not left reading a list of possible diseases at midnight.
- Watch: nothing visible to worry about in this photo.
- Keep an eye: check again and note any change.
- See a vet today: worth a call before the day ends.
- See a vet now: do not wait for another photo.
Skip the app and go straight to a vet for these
No symptom checker should stand between your pet and emergency care. Go to a vet or emergency clinic right away for:
- Trouble breathing, or blue, grey or very pale gums.
- Collapse, seizures, or sudden inability to stand.
- A swollen, tight belly with retching and nothing coming up.
- A cat straining in the litter box and passing little or no urine.
- Heavy bleeding, or a suspected broken bone.
- A chance your pet ate something toxic: chocolate, grapes, xylitol, lilies for cats, medicines or rodent poison.
- Heatstroke signs after heat or exercise: heavy panting, drooling, weakness.
What a photo cannot show
A photo shows the surface. It cannot show pain, temperature, smell, what is deep in an ear canal, or what is happening inside the body. Miyu says so on every result and never tells you everything is fine.
If your pet is acting unlike itself, eating or drinking much less, or you are simply worried, call your vet. Your own judgement about your pet counts.
Frequently asked questions
Can a symptom checker replace a vet?
No. Miyu is not a veterinarian and does not diagnose. It helps you decide how soon to seek care and keeps a record you can show your vet.
Does it work for both dogs and cats?
Yes. Photo checks and sound checks are built for dogs and cats.
Is the pet symptom checker free?
Miyu is free to download on iPhone with a monthly allowance of checks. The urgent red flag list and the advice to see a vet are always free.
Can I ask follow-up questions?
Yes. Ask Miyu is a chat that already knows your pet's species, age, breed, weight and recent checks.
This guide is general information, not veterinary advice. Miyu is not a veterinarian and does not diagnose. If your pet seems unwell or you are worried, contact your vet.
